A paper towel roll takes up a square foot of the surface you actually cook on. It slides across the worktop every time you tear a sheet. Somebody moves it to make room, and then nobody can find it. And half the countertop holders out there will not even take a fresh roll.

Most rails ship with one way of fixing them and hope your wall cooperates. Adhesive fails on textured paint. Screws are a non-starter on tile, and a problem if you rent. This one comes with both, on a plate designed to take either.

You do not have to choose before it arrives. Open the box, look at your wall, then decide.
This is the part that never makes it onto a box. A wall-mounted roll only tears cleanly in one hand if the bracket is between you and the roll — the bar takes the pull, the roll stays put, the sheet comes away.
Mount it the other way round and it still works, but the roll spins toward you and you end up steadying it with your free hand. Every single time. With wet hands. Holding a pan.
So before you press it on: stand where you normally stand, usually at the sink, and point the bracket at yourself.

Tamsin W. 1 month agoA cheaper grade looks identical on day one and blooms rust above a sink within a season. 304 is the grade that survives steam, splashes and a bathroom.
5.63″ long and 1.57″ deep spreads the load of a full roll across more surface. That is what stops adhesive peeling at one corner and taking the whole thing down.
It would be cheaper to pick one. You do not know what your wall is until you are standing at it, so the adhesive pad, the screws and the anchors all ship together.
